Michael (Mike) Davis has been developing and delivering code education programs for Johnson County Contractor Licensing events and various jurisdictions and ICC Chapters across Kansas and Missouri since 2006.
Mike's career includes 11 years as an inspector with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and 25 years as the code official for Cass County, Missouri, and Miami County, Kansas. He retired in 2020 as the Director of Code Services for Miami County. Before becoming an inspector, Mike worked as a carpenter for 12 years and participated in the Carpenter’s Apprenticeship Program with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.
Mike holds 24 ICC inspector certifications across nearly every discipline, including Certified Building Official and Certified Fire Marshal. In 2003, he earned the prestigious Master Code Professional certification from the International Code Council (ICC), the highest level of certification for inspectors.
Mike has served on several important committees within the ICC, including the Building Inspector Certification Exam Committee and the Certified Building and Fire Marshal Exam Committee, each for seven years. He also served on the ICC Administration Code Change Committee for two code cycles.
Active in the ICC community, Mike served as a board member and President of the Metropolitan Kansas City Chapter of ICC in 2004. He was the founding president of the Missouri Association of Building and Fire Officials and also helped establish ICC Region IV, serving as its first president. Additionally, Mike participated in the Heart of America ICC Chapter's Kansas Disaster Assessment Team throughout his tenure with Miami County, and he served as the team’s coordinator from 2008 to 2014.
